Sadness
noun
The ache of loss, disappointment or unmet hope — a slowing-down feeling that asks you to notice what mattered.
How it shows up in the body
Heaviness in the chest, a tight throat, tears, low energy, a downcast gaze.
What it is telling you
Something or someone was important to you. Sadness slows you down so you can grieve, rest and ask for comfort.
The urge — and the choice
To isolate or push it down with distraction. The choice is to let it move — talk, cry, write, or sit with someone.
One thing to try
Tell one safe person, “I’m sad about ___.” Saying the whole sentence matters.
Practice it: Feelings journal.
Words you can use
I’m feeling sad today. I don’t need you to fix it — I just want some company.
