Circle check-in

Illustration of a community circle in a Los Angeles room.

The circle check-in is the opening practice of every 10P circle. It builds Social awareness and trust in any group: families, classrooms, teams, cell blocks, boardrooms.

How it works

  1. Sit in a circle. One person holds a talking piece.
  2. Each person says: "I'm feeling ___ because ___." One word, one sentence.
  3. No one responds, fixes or comments. Just listen.
  4. Pass the piece.
  5. Close with one word each: how are you leaving?

Agreements

Confidentiality, no cross-talk, pass if you need to, speak from "I."

10P helps communities start their own circle chapters.
