Robert L. Jafari is a Lead Facilitator for the 10P Program and a member of its Board of Directors.12 He facilitates 10P emotional-literacy classes for incarcerated people and community participants, helping them understand trauma, recognize their emotional patterns and practice healthier responses.1
Lived experience
Jafari's commitment is rooted in his own life. At 19, he received a 19-year sentence, and he ultimately served nearly 17 years.1 He spent his young adulthood inside, the same years when most people are learning who they are, and he has been learning to name what that cost and what it taught him.
Contribution to emotional literacy
Jafari joined the 10P team in 2023. He brings multiple certifications in rehabilitation-focused education to his work.1 His facilitation includes:
- Boys 2 Men. He co-hosted both 2024 graduations of the 10P Boys 2 Men program at California State Prison, Los Angeles County (Lancaster). Programming there is set to resume in 2027.
- B.E.L.T. He facilitates the 32-week 10P B.E.L.T. curriculum, which takes participants from emotional awareness through reentry planning.
- Legends to Leaders. He supports 10P's leadership programming at Sacramento State University.
- Reentry partnerships. He has helped build relationships with county reentry partners and has coordinated support letters for participants.
In December 2024, 10P honored him with four Impact Awards: Exceptional Facilitator, Dedication to Service, Outstanding Ambassador, and Champion of Emotional Literacy.
Why his voice matters
Jafari teaches from the inside of the pattern. He knows how hypervigilance, silence and control can feel like safety, and how they can quietly close doors once a person is home. That is the work of APEs: Adverse Prison Experiences. When participants hear a man who served nearly 17 years say that emotional literacy changed how he shows up, the lesson stops being theory.
Outside the classroom, Jafari owns 2Face LLC and is an active investor in community opportunity.1 He is also the founder and director of Reaching the Unreachable, a nonprofit organization that helps at-risk youth and system-impacted children.
